WELCOME

THE MARINERS FREEHOUSE

A Grade II listed building which dates back to the 18th C. Having undergone an extensive refurb during lockdown but keeping all the original features, two fireplaces, large bay windows and beams, we welcome you to the Mariners Freehouse. Following socially distance guidelines, keeping customers safe, staff safe and the Mariners safe.

The Mariners offer a great selection of real ale on the pumps, mainly from local brewers. Alongside our ales are a range of craft lagers, local ciders and a good selection of wine. We stock over 90 specialist gins, have an outside bar, wood-fired pizza oven and BBQ.

The Mariners offers an exciting new menu to celebrate 5 years in business,  cooked with locally sourced ingredients where possible adding Sunday roast as an option. If you would like to book, please email bookings@marinersfreehouse.co.uk or call 01394 670444

Announcement: unfortunately we won’t be opening for a few days. All the Crew are safe but extremely upset and devastated that we have had two completely different fire incidents within such a short time. We will do our upmost to reopen as soon as physically possible.

We would like to thank the fire brigade and police for their efficient way they dealt with the incidents and our loyal customers for their continued support and good wishes.

The ship is still sailing and will have our crew back at the helm soonest.

Best wishes
All at the Mariners

So this was the culprit of our little incident ....At 1.40pm yesterday we had to call the fire brigade as the tumble dryer was on fire. We were extremely lucky that one member of our crew had gone upstairs and saw it. Two crew members attended to it best they could whilst not putting themselves in danger. We promptly evacuated our customers and crew and waited for the fire brigade to attend.

The Chief fire officer said the quick actions of our staff saved the pub. As owners, we would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to ALL our crew especially David & Rob for acting so quickly and professionally throughout the terrible ordeal. All hands on deck from the crew meant we could reopen yesterday.

Everything is now back up and running. We ran a successful dinner service last night and welcome you aboard our happy ship again..

Serving home cooked roast tomorrow. Choice of lamb rump, roast beef, chicken and gammon and veggie roast too.. we can also cook gluten free Yorkshire puds too.

Hope to see you again very soon.
